Indian Odyssey
My Classical Indian II/3ab (500-545BCE) army is complete (including a little morphin’ magic for a I/1 Republican Indian army). Sorry for the extra flocking in the photos, I must remember to give the figures a final once over with a soft brush before photographing them.
The CinC’s elephant is a converted Grumpy figure while the umbrella bearer is old range Museum - no idea about the brolly itself.
The Maiden Guard are Z Range Museum and the drummer is Tin Soldier.
This jumbo is old school Museum with converted Irregular archers as crew.
The foot officer and the drummer are Tin Soldier and the two-handed swordsman is old Museum.
The final elephant has a converted old museum archer crew. The spearman and swordsman are also old Museum and the drummer is Tin Soldier.
The Indian Chariot Division:
This chariot will double as the CinC for the Republican Indian army.
I tossed around quite a few ideas regarding the chariot decoration before landing on the tiger skins.
Tiger skins just seemed right, and I liked the idea of painting them.
The cavalry for my Classical Indians are Essex minis. Static pose but very nice to paint.
The Archers:
Here is the 4Bw option for the Classical Indians.
They're all Z Range Museum figures, except for the Tin Soldier standard bearer.
The Z Range Museum figures are nicely detailed and paint up well.
As does the venerable Tin Soldier model.
Then there's the 3Bw option. They also do service with the Republican Indians.
Museum Z Range, once again.
The Auxilia:
These 4Ax are very nice Essex Minis.
They'll do service in the Republican army, too.
The Spearmen:
Here are the Bactrian Greek Guardsmen (Sp)
These are Alternative Armies Seleucid auxilia.
The Psiloi:
A pair of Tin Soldier archers.
The Levies:
A mix of Tin Soldier and Old museum figures.
The Republican Archers (3Bw):
The Republican Auxilia (4Ax):
The Baggage Camp:

Very colorful indeed - I like those tiger skins on the chariots!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Norman. I found painting this army a great blend of pretty straight forward and nicely complex, great fun!
