1812 Russians for DBN
Part 4 The Cossacks
No Napoleonic Russian army of mine would be complete without those artful dodgers known as Cossacks. So, Platov's Don Cossacks (and a few wilder and woolier variants) were a must for my new DBN army, even if not technically part of the Russian 2nd Army West.
They are great for threatening flanks and putting doubts in the mind of my opposing general. Or that's the plan anyway!
These Don Cossacks are Essex Miniatures with an AB Miniatures officer. The figures are a little early for the period but hey! I have some more accurate Minifigs models but preferred these.
These are delightful Grumpy figures. Hands down the most enjoyable figures to paint in the whole army.
Again, the models are not really correct for the army but they were too nice to resist. I look at them as being part of the unruly swarm of irregulars surrounding the main Russian army.
The Cossack horse artillery crew are very dodgy uniform-wise but I think that they ended up looking Cossacky enough. Converted Battle Honours Opolchenie with an AB officer.
Go them Cossacks!
Hope you like them.
